About us
The North American Institute of Construction Professionals (NAICP) provides education and training to those seeking a career in the Construction trades. The NAICP produces a series of web tutorials, CD's/DVD's, videotapes and workbooks called the Construction Trade Learning System, and Asi Se Hace – in the student's Native Language.
Our programs provide a solution for the serious lack of training that has existed in the construction industry for decades. Until now, there has been no readily available and recognized certification awarded to foreign language speakers based on their skills and training. In fact, unless an individual is able to obtain licensing by the state in which they work, or are able to obtain training through a trade union, such as a journeyman or apprenticeship program, even Native English Speakers will have difficulty progressing in their field.
There are licensed plumbers, and plumbing contractors. But what do we call the hardworking people who actually cut the pipe, solder the joints, install the drains, and perform all aspects of the plumbing trade EXCEPT contracting with the public? Is there a professional designation for them?
What do we call those who actually perform the work of hanging the drywall, installing the concrete block, applying the plaster, or who run wire and hang the electrical boxes? The answer is nothing, except perhaps, "laborer".
One of our goals is to reduce the use of the word "laborer" from the vocabulary and instead introduce descriptive titles that recognize an individual's actual skills and training.
To that end, the NAICP provides certification to individuals who complete the instructional courses, and who are awarded various levels of compliance designating them Green Building Technologies Specialist;Certified Drywall Installer and Finisher; Certified Concrete Installer; Certified Lath and Plaster Installer, etc., affording them the opportunity for advancement, pride in their accomplishment, recognition, increased income, a higher standard of living, and security for themselves and their families.
An NAICP certification provides the building owner with the confidence that the people working on his project are qualified in their individual trades. For contractors who hire NAICP certified tradespeople, they have the added assurance that the person they hire has had basic training in their chosen trade and will most likely end up making money for them, instead of losing money for them!
A better construction industry has been born!
